Industrial Hose vs Hydraulic Hose

Available in low-, medium-, and high-pressure ratings, our industrial hoses are capable of withstanding various pressure levels (typically below 1,000 psi). Industrial Hose Materials

With resistance to both low and high temperatures (-60°C to 200°C) and excellent flexibility, silicone tubing is suitable for piping in confined spaces.
A synthetic rubber also known as “crack-resistant rubber”, exhibiting excellent resistance to hot water, high temperatures, ozone and UV radiation(not oil-resistant).
Nitrile butadiene rubber offers good resistance to fuels, mineral oils, and hydraulic fluids. It is highly wear-resistant, outperforming natural rubber by 30%–45%. NBR has poor electrical insulation properties and low ozone resistance, making it prone to aging in outdoor environments.
Viton, also known as fluoroelastomer (FKM), exhibits excellent chemical and oil resistance. It performs well within a temperature range of -20°C to +200°C and offers strong weather resistance. FKM is commonly used in aerospace, automotive manufacturing and petrochemicals.
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is notable for its low friction, low adhesion, and ease of cleaning. With exceptional corrosion resistance and a wide operating temperature range (-196°C to 260°C), PTFE hoses are widely used in chemicals, food processing, and healthcare.
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a lightweight, flexible, cost-effective thermoplastic material with good flame-retardant properties. PVC can be manufactured as transparent tubing, allowing for better observation of fluid flow. PVC is unsuitable for high-temperature environments or applications involving contact with oils.

- Size and Fittings: Select an industrial hose with the appropriate inner diameter, length, and bend radius—as well as suitable fittings—based on the flow rate of the medium and the specific connection requirements.
The service life of industrial hoses generally depends on the material, the conveyed medium, and the operating environment.
- Materials: Hoses made of NBR, EPDM, or SBR typically have a service life of 2–5 years, while those made of silicone, FKM, or PTFE generally last 3–5 years.
- Application: Air compressor hoses have a service life of 5–10 years, provided the compressed air is clean and the hose is not kinked or crushed. Oil hoses have a service life of approximately 3–5 years in low-stress environments, but this drops to 1–2 years if exposed to salt spray.
Selecting a hose unsuitable for actual operating conditions is the most common cause of industrial hose failure. Additionally, excessive pressure, high temperatures, incompatibility between materials and the conveyed medium, and harsh operating environments can all lead to the aging, rupture, or damage of industrial hoses.
There is no single definitive answer, as these two materials are suited to different operating environments.
If you need to transport diesel or gasoline, NBR is an excellent choice due to its superior resistance to mineral oils and fuels. While EPDM has poor oil resistance, it excels in handling hot water, steam, and chemical solvents. EPDM offers strong weather resistance and a temperature range of approximately -50°C to +150°C, making it suitable for long-term outdoor use. In contrast, NBR is not resistant to ozone or UV radiation. When used outdoors, it tends to harden and crack quickly.
