Marine Exhaust Hoses by Material
The material used for RONTEIX marine exhaust hoses (typically used in wet exhaust systems) is primarily determined by the temperature they must withstand, their oil resistance, and their flexibility requirements. According to industry standards (such as SAE J2006), the most common materials for exhaust hoses manufactured by RONTEIX on the market are as follows:
High performance with extreme flexibility, heat resistance and aging, typically 175°C to 180°C or higher, and even higher for short periods.

Excellent resistance to high temperatures, ozone, aging, and seawater corrosion, combined with a steel wire and a fabric reinforcement layer, approx. 100°C to 135°C.

Withstands oil and fuel, mixed with NBR/PVC or NBR/SBR rubber blends, frequently used in commercial or high-performance vessels, complies with SAE J2006 wet exhaust standard.

Flame retardancy and weather resistance, along with good overall resistance to mechanical wear, seawater, and minor oil contamination, used on commercial vessels with higher fire safety requirements.

Marine Exhaust Hose by Construction
RONTEIX offers marine exhaust hoses with different physical wall constructions for your options as follows, which are specifically engineered to withstand high-temp exhaust gases, corrosive salt water, vibration and back pressure.

Heavy-duty, flexibility with non-slip twill pattern, optional silicone and rubber material, polyester, steel wire reinforcement with 3 layers.

Heavy-duty wire-reinforced or wire helix coil sandwiched synthetic rubber(EPDM, or NBR), prevents from collapsing under suction, kinking when bend.

Flexible, no-wire reinforced but with polyester reinforcement, made of rubber or silicone material, withstand bends and crack for transferring hot exhaust gases or water.
Feature Box
RONTEIX marine exhaust hoses come in two types: rubber marine exhaust hoses and silicone exhaust hoses. Due to the differences in their materials, their properties – such as temperature resistance and oil resistance – also vary.

Silicone marine exhaust hose withstands extreme temperatures up to 250°C, and rubber exhaust hose withstands up to 250°C.

Polyester and aramid reinforcement for softwall construction and steel wire embedded for hardwall construction.

Without steel wire and polyester reinforcement, it provides excellent flexibility when bending and absorbs vibrations.

Supports OEM replacement and comparison-based selection for marine and automotive modifications and turbocharger upgrades.
Provide a One-stop Marine Exhaust Solution
RONTEIX provides a one-stop marine exhaust solution by transferring engine gases and saltwater, and manufactures rubber and silicone mandrel hoses by customization.
Rubber Exhaust Hose
Rubber exhaust hose manufactured by RONTEIX is used to transfer hot exhaust fumes, gases, water, and particulates for marine boats, vehicles, and machinery. Synthetic rubbers we typically use include EPDM and Nitrile (NBR), which are reinforced with polyester or steel wire and come with softwall or harwall construction for different applications.
RONTEIX rubber exhaust hoses comply with SAE J2006, ISO 13363 standards, and Lloyds, or RINA approvals. Our rubber exhaust hoses withstand high temperatures up to 170°C and handle both wet exhaust (mixed with water) and dry exhaust.

Silicone Exhaust Hose
RONTEIX silicone exhaust hoses are manufactured by silicone rubber material reinforced with polyester,or aramid fabric, and can resist up to 260°C high temperature. Constructed without steel wire with softwall for high flexibility and with steel wire for hardwall which can prevent hose from collapsing or folding under high vacuum or deep bends.
Our silicone exhaust hoses are widely used for marine wet exhaust system and high performance automotive cooling or turbo applications under high temperature working conditions.

Manufacturing Process
RONTEIX marine exhaust hoses include rubber marine exhaust hoses and silicone marine exhaust hoses, but their manufacturing processes are completely different. One is produced by hand-wrapping, while the other is manufactured using an extrusion and mandrel-built process. Below, take a closer look at how they are actually produced.
Silicone marine exhaust hoses are manufactured using a hand-wrapping process. The specific workflow is as follows:
Specification Review → Silicone Compounding → Sheet & Reinforcement Preparation → Mandrel Forming → Reinforcement Application → Outer Cover Wrapping → Curing → Demolding & Trimming → Inspection → Branding & Packaging
Rubber marine exhaust hoses are manufactured using a combination of extrusion and mandrel-building processes. The specific process is as follows:
Compound preparation → Inner layer extrusion → Mandrel insertion → Cord wrapping → Final inspection → Mandrel removal → Vulcanization → Spiral steel wire / Outer layer / Water-resistant fabric

RONTEIX follows above testing frequency, acceptance criteria and availability should be defined in the approved inspection and test plan. Not every test is necessarily performed on every finished hose.
Wet exhaust hose is a heavy-duty hose made of silicone or rubber(EPDM, NBR, or CR) that is used on a marine vessel to transfer hot engine exhaust gases and saltwater out of boat. It is flexible and can withstand temperatures from -50°C to +260°C.
Generally, standard replacement frequency is 5 to 10 years, because marine exhaust hoses can last 5 to 10 years according to RONTEIX over 15 years’ experience, but exact lasting time is up to working condition: (fresh water or salt water), hose material(silicone or rubber) or total engine running time and etc.
No, standard marine exhaust hose cannot be used for fuel system. But silicone marine exhaust hoses lined with an inner fluorosilicone layer and CR or NBR marine exhaust hoses can withstand fuel.
- Prepare Your Tools
Gather a sharp utility knife, a hose clamp, a screwdriver, and suitable wire cutters. Use heavy-duty cutters for thicker reinforcing wire.
- Mark the Cutting Position
Measure the required hose length and mark the cutting position. Place a hose clamp beside the mark and tighten it just enough to prevent movement.
- Cut the Rubber Wall
Insert the utility knife through the rubber wall and cut around the hose, using the clamp’s edge as a guide.
- Work Around the Reinforcing Wire
When the blade meets the wire, withdraw it and resume cutting on the other side. Continue around the hose without forcing the knife through the steel wire.
- Cut the Wire and Remove the Offcut
Once the rubber wall is cut, use wire cutters to sever the remaining reinforcing wire and remove the unwanted hose section.
- Trim the Exposed Wire End
Move the clamp aside. Position the cutters perpendicular to the wire and trim the exposed end back inside the hose wall so it cannot protrude as a sharp hook.
- Inspect and Clean the Cut End
Remove loose rubber and wire fragments. Check that the cut is neat, the inner liner is undamaged, and no sharp wire remains exposed.
**Alternative:
If suitable wire cutters are unavailable, use a hacksaw to cut the exposed wire. This method is slower and may produce a less tidy finish.
**Safety:
Secure the hose, wear eye protection, and keep your hands clear of the blade’s path.
