Rubber Garden Hose v.s. PVC Garden Hose
Rubber Garden Hose: Made from natural or synthetic rubbers such as EPDM or SBR, they retain good flexibility even in cold weather. In contrast, PVC hoses tend to stiffen at low temperatures. Rubber hoses are wear-resistant and UV-resistant, making them ideal for long-term outdoor use, with a service life of 5–10 years. Designed with one or more layers of polyester reinforcement, RONTEIX rubber hoses offer superior pressure resistance, burst resistance and resistance to kink. Rubber garden hoses are heavier and more expensive than PVC hoses, and are suitable for agricultural, landscaping and commercial use.
PVC Garden Hose: It is made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which is lightweight and cost-effective, making it easy to handle and store. Designed with a single reinforcement layer, PVC hoses are prone to kinking or bending and are not as pressure-resistant or flexible as rubber garden hoses. By adjusting the formulation, PVC hoses can be produced in transparent, translucent and various colours to allow the flow of water to be observed. PVC hoses are more suitable for domestic gardening and general outdoor use.
EPDM Rubber Garden Hose v.s. Natural Rubber Garden Hose
EPDM Rubber Garden Hose: Compared to natural rubber hoses, EPDM rubber garden hoses offer superior weather resistance and UV resistance, making them suitable for long-term outdoor use. EPDM hoses have a working temperature range of approximately –50 °C to 150 °C and are resistant to hot water, steam and acids and alkalis. However, EPDM hoses are slightly less elastic than natural rubber hoses.
Natural Rubber Garden Hose: Natural rubber hoses are susceptible to the effects of UV light and ozone, and will age rapidly when used outdoors for prolonged periods. They have poor chemical resistance and are easily corroded by various chemicals. Natural rubber hoses offer good elasticity and tensile strength, as well as excellent abrasion resistance, making them ideal for agricultural irrigation, industrial fluid transfer and water supply on construction sites.

The production process for rubber garden hoses includes steps such as the compounding of raw materials, the extrusion of the inner tube, reinforcement layer application and vulcanisation.
- Raw rubber, vulcanising agents and other additives are mixed to form a uniform compound.
- The compound is passed through an extruder to form an inner tube with a specific internal diameter and wall thickness.
